We are a national community of independent nonprofit consultants. We come together to connect, collaborate and grow. Through shared learning, peer support and resource exchange, we strengthen each other’s work and impact. Our network helps members find referrals, collaborators and new opportunities. Together, we are building a thriving ecosystem to support our success and the success of Canadian nonprofits. We have approximately 100 members across Canada.
If you are with a nonprofit looking for...pretty much anything...someone in this group can help.
We meet virtually once a month. Our agendas are focused on group-identified priorities and always hold space for peer-to-peer learning and networking. In addition, meetings may have guest speakers, breakout groups, opportunities for practice and collective problem solving. In addition to the monthly meetings, we work to create opportunities for in-person collaboration.
Current discussion priorities range from clarifying and engaging your target market, refining your elevator pitch and building word of mouth, to coaching leaders and financial management.
Recognizing an opportunity to build more supportive ecosystems, Thomas Appleyard started INC in 2022. Thomas led the convening and engagement of all members until late 2024. At the end of 2024, we established a steering committee composed of Travis Allison, Monica Da Ponte and Hazel Lord to support the organization and planning of INC member activities.
INC is open to all independent consultants supporting the non-profit sector. This includes strategic planners, trainers and facilitators, mediators and coaches, writers, researchers, and fundraisers.
There are currently no fees associated with membership although the Steering Committee is considering establishing a fee-based membership tier to deepen and enhance the current service offering.
Our community is grounded in shared values that guide how we work and grow together. We create safe spaces to learn, support one another’s success, take risks, show respect, and follow through on our commitments—because how we show up for each other matters just as much as what we do.
